Richard Barten

My name is Richard Barten, and I am asking for your vote for my re-election to the Board of Directors. I have been a Board member for the last eight years. I am very proud of the Board of Directors which is led by our president Gregory Arzoumanov. We all work tirelessly to make Turnberry on the Green a great place to live. We are always maintaining and improving the building, pool, gym and playground. Last year, I worked very hard with other board members to get a great contract renewal with Atlantic Broadband. In 2021, we will have the fastest internet and cable TV with new fiber optic technology. It will increase the speed reliability of the network. I also helped negotiate a building insurance policy with a small increase in rates and more coverage for the building. Our building, under the present board, is always being upgraded. I like to bring my granddaughters to our building. They love our playground and pool. They also enjoy our newest addition, the Koi Fish.

When I moved to Turnberry on the Green twelve years ago my HOA payment was $670 a month. Now, my payment is the same, but it includes faster internet and water, meaning that I pay less than I did twelve years ago. The Board of Directors are committed to keep the HOA low with no increase.

I fear if we are not re-elected, the new board will bring in a management company. The management company will use subcontracts to bring in new employees and take a percentage of their salaries. We used to subcontract our security. We paid the security company $18 per hour; they paid the security personnel only $9 per hour. If they do not elect the current board, I fear our HOA will rise substantially. We now have management, maintenance, accounting, security and landscaping done internally. We have outstanding and loyal employees. They are paid a fair salary and the turnover rate is nearly zero.

The anonymous letter that was circulated in the building dismayed me. It contained almost a hundred percent false information. If someone has something to say to the residents, have the courage to sign your name. I am always happy to hear from the residents with their ideas and suggestions to improve our life here.
